DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES DONATES COATS TO HOMELESS SHELTER IN AURORA
With extremely cold temperatures hitting Illinois, Durham School Services, a national leader in student transportation, donated over 100 new winter coats to Hesed House, a homeless shelter in Aurora, Illinois. “We are proud to support the good work that Hesed House does in the Aurora area. Giving back to the communities where we live and work is central to our core values,” said David A. Duke, CEO of National Express, the parent company of Durham. “Staying warm during the winter is a basic need and we are happy to help provide coats to our neighbors at Hesed House.” Hesed House is the second largest homeless shelter in Illinois, and the largest shelter outside of the city of Chicago. With the help of professional staff, alliances with outside agencies and 6,000 volunteers from 90 area churches, almost one thousand unduplicated individuals are served each year through Hesed House’s shelter and three housing programs. Hesed House strives to get 16 or 17 individuals out of homelessness each week. “Winter is undoubetedly a very tough time for homeless individuals in the community. We are very grateful for the generous coat donation from Durham School Services,” said Bruce Bachmeier, Director of Volunteers at Hesed House. “With Durhams’s help, we’ll be able to help many people stay warm this winter.”
