DURHAM DRIVER ORGANIZES LARGEST ANTI-BULLYING PARTY IN LEWISVILLE ISD TO ENCOURAGE RESPECT FOR ALL
Durham Schools Services driver T-Ronn Hicks is leading a community-wide effort to knock out bullying in Lewisville, Texas schools. He is organizing “The World’s Largest Anti-Bullying Party” on Oct. 25 at the Lewisville High School Harmon Campus.
The former professional wrestling Hall-of-Famer has been helping kids for the past seven years through his work with Durham as well as though his Simply Badd Ministry and Outreach Program.
The event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is open to children and parents from Lewisville ISD and other districts and will feature outdoor activities, addresses by local government officials, and testimonials from athletes about how they overcame bullying. A question and answer session will follow.
The timing could not be more relevant since every October, schools and organizations across the country observe National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal is to encourage communities to work together to stop bullying and increase awareness of the impact that bullying has on all children of all ages.
“We are very grateful to have T-Ronn Hicks serving our district as a positive role model and advocate for our students,” said Andrew Plunkett, principal of Lewisville High School, Harmon Campus. “He’s helping us to continue our work outside the classroom by teaching students to respect one another.”
The anti-bullying advocate said that he wanted to address the issue of bullying because he was bullied as a child.
In addition to receiving a Durham Values award for his work in the community, Hicks has recently been recognized with two consecutive humanitarian of the year awards as a result of his community efforts.
“At Durham, we are definitely proud of the work that T-Ronn Hicks is doing in the community. Respect for others is one of Durham’s core values and he’s helping spread that message to the students we serve,” said Greg Newman, Durham General Manager.
