As a sign of its commitment to the core values of people, community, and education, the National Express Giving Foundation (NEGF), the philanthropic arm of National Express, awarded Kyle Oakes the inaugural John A. Elliott Scholarship and Jaime Liptak the National Express Scholarship. Both recipients, who received their awards at a luncheon, are residents of Pittsburgh.
“Kyle embodies the outstanding attributes the National Express Giving Foundation look for when selecting a scholarship recipient. His hard work and perseverance will take him far in life.” said John A. Elliott, NEGF board president, who awarded Kyle with the scholarship.
Kyle Oakes carries a 4.4 GPA and is 5th in his graduating class. He demonstrates excellence both in and out of the classroom as a member of the National Honor Society and the Titan Leaders, a school service organization. Kyle has been accepted to Bethany College where he will pursue his Bachelor’s degree.
“We want to thank the National Express Giving Foundation for selecting Kyle, I can’t express how excited I am and appreciative. This scholarship program is wonderful and it’s great that families are being offered this opportunity to help pay for college” said Kimi Oakes, mother of Kyle Oakes and a driver for Durham School Services of National Express.
David A. Duke, NEGF chairman, awarded Jaime the National Express scholarship. Jaime is a second year student majoring in business administration marketing at California University of Pennsylvania where carries a 3.29 GPA.
